Tesla struggles in Europe amid the „Elon Effect“
Tesla experienced a staggering 49% drop in sales during the first two months of 2025. According to the latest report from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), the controversial leadership of Elon Musk has contributed to this decline, reducing Tesla’s market share in the EU to approximately 1.1%.
Decline in Germany
In Germany, the decline is even sharper, with new registrations plummeting by 76% in February, despite an overall increase in electric vehicle sales.
Reputational Damage
The fallout from Musk’s connections to controversial political figures has led to significant reputational damage, causing companies like Rossmann and several energy providers to distance themselves from Tesla as a corporate vehicle supplier.
Declining Demand in Other Regions
Additionally, the company faces declining demand in other regions, such as China, where competitors like BYD are thriving with affordable models.
