The Terrorism Confinement Center
Opened in 2023, the prison is a key element of Bukele’s aggressive crackdown on violent street gangs. It accommodates up to 40,000 inmates under harsh conditions, with:
- No access to outdoor activities
- No educational programs
Recent Deportations and Measures Against Crime
Recently, a total of 261 individuals, including gang members, were deported to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act, reflecting ongoing U.S. efforts to combat international crime. President Trump has expressed support for Bukele’s strong measures against gangs, as El Salvador continues to operate under a state of emergency to address rampant criminal activity.
